This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining complex or moderately complex web-based and computer-based administrative information systems serving the entire UCSD campus. Emphasis is on the development and enhancement of systems implemented on a wide support base, including Java, JavaScript, Java Servlets, XML, AJAX, CSS, JSON, DB2, Unix Utilities and tools, and deployed via the web. This position has the primary responsibility for the Campus Directory System, including the database structures, the online display of data and the interfaces between TMS and the Data Warehouse plus web-based user interfaces for campus update. Specific functional concentration is in the area of Telecommunications Management Systems. Computing is performed on multiple SUN database and application servers, which collectively constitute a large computing center.

Duties:

  • Provide assistance to other programmer / analysts, as needed.
  • Assist campus departments with their computer-based information needs.
  • Maintain systems and applications for delivery of services in the Client/Server environment and via the web using Omnis, Perl, CGI, Utilities, and Crystal Reports.
  • Regularly meet with functional customers and committees.
  • Support installation and testing of complex software.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in Java, J2EE, OO, JavaScript, AJAX, Server-side frameworks, Web Services.
  • Experience in Client/Server based applications using products such as Omnis, C++ or Visual Basic.
  • SDemonstrated technical expertise in Unix, SQL, RDBMS such as DB2 and Sybase.
  • Proven project leadership ability and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving techniques, testing, debugging.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in software design and analysis of multi-platform web-bases systems.
  • Ability to think independently, to develop new systems solutions and make recommendations.
