Lead Operator

As a lead computer operator, perform a wide variety of computer operations-related duties at the ACT Data Center Operations Facility. The Data Center systems that are being used and will be monitored are z/OS (mainframe) and UNIX (servers).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system scheduling
  • Assign work responsibilities
  • Respond to data communication problems
  • Issue MVS, JES2 and UNIX commands
  • Use ZEKE and Autosys to monitor activities on mainframe and client server environments
  • Check subordinate's work for accuracy
  • Review/ update facility procedures and run books
  • Respond to related system/ user problems in a customer-related environment

Qualifications:

  • Skill using IBM Z/OS MVS job entry sub-system and operating systems commands
  • Knowledge operating in a client server environment using UNIX on Sun computers.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate Xerox page-printing systems
  • Ability to respond to and resolve all alarms for air conditioning, fire protection, Uninterruptible Power System and water detection systems following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to recognize and correct or report hardware and software malfunctions.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads to meet shifting deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Skill in following detailed oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Employee must be able to move and handle a 50 pound carton (i.e. box of computer paper)

Special conditions of employment

  • A background check is required.
  • Position is union represented by TX-Technical.
  • Must be able to work shifts in a 24x7 environment.
  • Must be able to work a non-standard work week in response to facility needs.
